* - 1972 - Gary Bell won on a countback from Gary Brooks.
* - 1973 - Glenrowan's Brian Matthey would of won the award on a countback, but was ruled ineligible for playing in another league (O&MFL Thirds with Wang FC on a Saturday), then playing in the WJFL (for Glenrowan FC on the Sunday) on the same weekend & picking up votes!
* - 1979 - Peter Quinton won on a countback from Phillip O'Connor.
* - 1981 - Peter Watson won on a countback from Clayton Tremblett.
* - 1982 - Rod Linton won on a countback from Jim Naish.

North East Media’s original publishing business was founded by WT Higgins when he purchased The Wangaratta Despatch in 1921 and Wangaratta Chronicle in 1937. The company is still owned by the Higgins family and managed by Edward Higgins, a fourth generation family member. There are over 75 people employed directly in the North East and another 45 by associated companies. Sponsorship and media support of communities and events are part of our business aims.
