The 4 competing leagues, Albury Wodonga, Wangaratta and District, Tallangatta and Seymour Junior Football Leagues competed in both under 14 and under 16's. In total, 12 teams played 18 games and provided representative opportunities for 360 young boys and 10 male and female umpires.
Adding to the experience again this year, a Final Series was played as opposed to the Round Robin series of previous seasons with Albury Wodonga JFL (Red) ultimately successful in an their battle with Wangaratta & District (White) during the Under 14’s match. It was AWJFL (red) again who finished on top in the under 16's defeating Albury Black in a come from behind decider.
Jake Maddock, under 16's and Codie Kipping under 14's, from Tallangatta and Seymour Junior Football Leagues respectively were awarded Players of the Carnivals.
Accompanying the 380 participants was an estimated 2,000 spectators comprising of parents, siblings and recruiters identifying the best local talent for pathway programs.
Organisers were again delighted with the manner in which the Carnival was supported, the conduct of players, their team management and coaches as well as spectators. Planning for 2018 will begin shortly with leagues contributing to the annual review where suggested inclusions are submitted for consideration.
If you have any feedback with regards tot he Carnival, happy to take that on board.
