All Clubs must have a "Child safe officer" This person can be a school teacher or a police officer or someone who is willing to do a 3 hour course to take on this role. (teachers and SAPOL are exempt)
The Child Safe Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a Member Protection Policy (template and support available through HFL)and to make sure all people working with anyone under the age of 15 have a DCSI check. Also if there are any problems or complaints within your club, your CSO will deal with it.
To obtain a DCSI check, please go to
https://www.dcsiscreening.sa.gov.au/SCRequestApplicationIndividual and be sure to tick volunteer.
The applicant shall then take the approved form to their club CSO for noting (there is a facility in Footyweb for keeping track of DCSI checks). This information is not sent back to the HFL or the club.
The HFL is committed to supporting clubs to provide an environment safe for children that is free from harassment, discrimination and abuse for everyone, and promotes respectful and positive behaviour and values.
